This morning we’re still recovering from last night’s after-party and a full day of films, but I was able to get up in time to make a TV appearance this morning. Though maybe not fully rested, we’re ready for what will probably be the biggest day of the festival.

This afternoon at 3 we’ll be serving up ‘Real Serious II,’ which features three wonderful films from students at the North Carolina School of the Arts, a film from an Augusta, GA high school student and a piece from a USC stude… Continue

Indie Grits Day Two

Day one is behind us and we seem to be on a roll. Opening night was wonderful with great crowds for both of the evening screenings. Of the 16 films we showed yesterday 10 were represented in person by a filmmaker or producer. Several filmmakers came in from out of town. Jeff Wedding and his crew drove in from Nashville for the screening of Gracie: The Diary of a Coma Patient. Gainesville’s Georg Koszulinski was here for his film America in Pictures, Kristi Ryba came up from John’s Island to pres… Continue

Let's Get Gritty...Indie Grits Day One

Indie Grits is finally here and it’s starting with a bang. Beginning at 3 o’clock this afternoon we’ll be presenting 53 different independent films over the next five days ranging from an innovatively crafted history of the state of Florida to a sing-along lead by animated dolls to octogenarian bowl makers and a musical about a boy and his talking, inflatable dolphin.

Hit your knees. We’re spicing up the cinema - A Film Crawl preview

Going to the movies is great. But I admit, the routine can get a little monotonous. Same cushioned seat. Same soft-drink. Same retractable armrest. Same Hollywood offering. Every now and again, you have to shake things up.
